Your tarot birth card by date of birth: how to calculate it

What is a tarot birth card

In tarot, each person has a major arcana card that corresponds to their date of birth. This is called a birth card or life card. It does not predict the future: it describes a core energy present in how you face decisions, challenges, and relationships. Think of it as a starting map, not a fixed destination.

How to calculate your tarot card by date of birth

The most common method adds all digits of your birth date until you get a number between 1 and 22. Example: born March 14, 1990 → 1+4+0+3+1+9+9+0 = 27 → 2+7 = 9. The arcana IX is The Hermit. If the result exceeds 22, reduce again. If it equals 22, your card is The Fool (arcana 0).

Most common major arcana as birth cards

Some arcana appear far more often than others due to the statistical distribution of birth dates. The most common are The Chariot (VII), Strength (VIII), and The Hermit (IX). The least frequent are The Fool (0) and The World (XXI). This does not make one card better or worse: each major arcana carries its own energy field.

What your birth card says about your personality

The birth card is not a horoscope. It points to a background tendency: how you tend to make decisions, what kind of energy you seek or avoid in relationships, where your deepest learning potential lies. The Hierophant as a birth card does not make you conservative — it may indicate you learn best through clear structures and that your biggest lessons come from questioning them.

Birth card vs daily card: clear differences

Your birth card is static: always the same. The daily card is dynamic: it changes with the question you bring that day. The first tells you about who you are long-term. The second gives information about a specific situation. Using both makes sense when you want to understand whether what you are experiencing aligns with your background energy or is pulling you in the opposite direction.
