Minor lines in palmistry: girdle of Venus, sun line, health line and marriage lines
What the minor lines of the hand are in palmistry and what each reveals: girdle of Venus, sun line, health line, marriage lines and travel lines.
what are the minor lines of the hand in palmistry
Minor or secondary hand lines are all those that do not belong to the four main lines: life, heart, head and fate. They do not appear in every hand, and their presence — or absence — has its own meaning. In classical palmistry, seven main minor lines are worked with: the girdle of Venus, the sun line (or Apollo line), the health line (or Mercury line), the marriage or union lines, travel lines, the intuition line and the Mars line. Reading them together with the main lines gives a much more complete profile than primary line analysis alone.
girdle of Venus and sun line: sensitivity and creative talent
The girdle of Venus is an arc appearing under the index and middle fingers, between the index and ring fingers. It indicates high emotional sensitivity, artistic tendency and, when strongly marked or fragmented, also a tendency toward emotional intensity or perfectionism. Not having a girdle of Venus is not negative: it simply indicates more stable emotional processing. The sun line — vertical, under the ring finger — is one of the most sought-after in palmistry: its presence indicates recognition, creative or artistic talent and an ability to find satisfaction in work. The longer and cleaner it is, the greater the projection.
health line and Mercury line: signals about wellbeing and communication
The health line — also called the Mercury line or hepatic line — runs from the base of the little finger toward the life line. In palmistry, a strong clean health line indicates good digestive and communicative capacity. Its absence is often interpreted as a positive sign: health so stable there is nothing to record. When it appears fragmented, chained or with islands, it may point to periods of physical or communicative tension. The Mercury line is also associated with business intuition and the ability to read the social environment.

Marriage or union lines are small horizontal lines on the outer edge of the hand, below the little finger. In classical palmistry they do not predict specific marriages but rather high-intensity emotional bonds. The number of lines does not indicate the number of relationships: a single deep line may represent the most significant relationship of a lifetime. Short or faint lines point to passing bonds or relationships that did not consolidate. A fork at the end of a union line may indicate a separation; a fork at the beginning, a relationship with a complicated start.
travel lines, intuition line and Mars lines
Travel lines appear at the base of the palm, on the Mount of the Moon, and point to important periods of physical or mental mobility — not necessarily geographical travel. The intuition line — when present — is a curve running from the Mount of the Moon to the Mount of Mercury: it indicates developed extrasensory perception or high empathy. Mars lines are lines parallel to the life line, within the area enclosed by it: they are interpreted as a sign of protection, resilience and capacity for recovery in the face of adversity.
how to read minor lines in a photo of your hand
Minor lines are usually finer than main lines and require a photo with good resolution and side lighting to be visible. Oblique natural light — not frontal — creates shadows that highlight finer lines. A photo of the palm at around 20-25 cm distance with the phone in portrait mode is recommended, without digital zoom that pixelates the image. If you are unsure which lines you have, a photo reading can identify them and explain them in context with your main lines.
