What is a birth chart and what information does it contain
A birth chart—also called a natal chart—is a map of the sky at the exact moment of your birth. It records the position of the Sun, Moon, and eight planets, distributed across the 12 zodiac signs and 12 astrological houses. It is not a generic sun-sign horoscope: each chart is unique because it depends on your exact date, time, and place of birth.

To get an accurate birth chart you need three pieces of information: date of birth (day, month, year), time of birth (as exact as possible, ideally with minutes), and place of birth (city or municipality). Time is the critical factor: without it you cannot calculate the ascendant or house cusps, which represent nearly half of the analysis.
