What are the astrological houses and how they are formed
The 12 astrological houses are the 12 divisions of the natal chart, each representing a different area of life. They are formed starting from the Ascendant (the cusp of the 1st house) and distributed counterclockwise. Unlike signs, which depend on date, houses depend on birth time and location. Planets in a house indicate which life areas each planetary energy activates.
Houses 1 to 4: identity, resources, communication, and home
House 1 (Ascendant): appearance, identity, new beginnings. House 2: money, possessions, self-worth, personal resources. House 3: communication, siblings, learning, local environment, short-distance travel. House 4 (IC): home, family of origin, roots, childhood, real estate.
Houses 5 to 8: creativity, work, partnership, and transformation
House 5: creativity, pleasure, children, romance, art. House 6: daily work, health, routines, service. House 7 (Descendant): partnerships, marriage, contracts. How to read planets in houses in your natal chart
A planet in a house indicates that planetary energy is particularly active in that area of life. Saturn in the 7th house suggests serious and sometimes delayed relationships. Jupiter in the 2nd house tends toward financial expansion. A stellium—three or more planets in the same house—concentrates a great deal of energy there, both in potential and in challenges.
